A Reintroduction/ Una Reintroducción

Hola, hola! Me di cuenta que ya pasó más de un año desde que escribí, "Let's Get Personal" y mucho ha cambiado desde entonces y creo que es tiempo de compartir lo nuevo en mi vida. Como siempre, muchas gracias por su tiempo y por seguir mi página!

        Cosas que puedes saber de mí: Tengo 21 años. Tengo dos hermanos y soy la penúltima. También tengo un perro llamado Simba. Mis padres son de El Salvador, pero yo nací y crecí en Bellevue, WA. Hablo español, pero me cuesta leerlo y escribirlo. Estudié Francés durante 6 años pero retuve muy poco.

               En Agosto, comenzaré mi último año en Washington State University. Estoy estudiando Ciencias Políticas y Justicia Criminal. También formo parte del cuerpo de entrenamiento de oficiales de la reserva del ejército. Significa que una vez graduada, seré comandante en el Ejército como Teniente Segundo. Este año escolar también soy parte de los estudiantes asociados de la universidad. Dentro de ASWSU tengo el privilegio de servir como Jefe de Personal y Finanzas. Durante el verano, cuando regreso a casa, (Bellevue) trabajo en Nordstrom. Además de ver películas, leer, practicar yoga y comprar, no tengo demasiados hobbies. Últimamente, he dedicado mucha energía a este blog, por lo que todo lo que abarca se ha convertido en mi mayor afición.

               Para compartir con ustedes un poco más sobre mí, sepan que soy muy apasionada de las personas y el aprendizaje. De ninguna manera me considero inteligente, pero sé que no soy tonta porque soy una persona muy curiosa que hace muchas preguntas. Leo mucho para mantener mi mente creativa y ayudarme a escribir. Eventualmente me gustaría sentirme lo suficientemente cómoda para compartir algunas de mis piezas aquí. 

               Me gusta hablar sobre cualquier cosa y convertir a extraños en amigos. Creo en hacer las preguntas difíciles y complacerme en las conversaciones incómodas con una mente abierta porque allí es donde aprendemos y crecemos. Espero que nadie confunda mi curiosidad con la hostilidad. Me gusta hacer preguntas sobre cosas con las que no estoy "de acuerdo" porque generalmente es simplemente que no lo entiendo. Me considero una persona transparente y aunque originalmente este blog comenzó como una forma de responsabilizarme por los libros que leo, se ha convertido en una expresión de amor propio. Leer me hace feliz, escribir me hace feliz, tomar fotos me hace feliz, tomar café y explorar en lindas cafeterías, me hace feliz. Me estoy ocupando de mi alma mientras hago conexiones, así que, aunque me encanta todo el apoyo que recibo, al final del día, si nadie lee mi blog, al menos me queda un producto del que estoy orgullosa. 

               Creo que me hago parecer una persona muy sentimental, y aunque si es cierto, no quiero darte la impresión equivocada, también creo que soy divertida y tengo un sentido del humor bastante sarcástico. Me han dicho que tengo una cara no tan amigosa, pero prometo que soy una persona accesible. Sepan que también me creo una, “bad ass” pero soy 5'2 en altura así que no podría ser tan intimidante aunque quisiera. Hago mi mayor esfuerzo para practicar el tacto, pero a veces soy bastante directa con mis palabras y estoy segura que soy más elocuente en el papel. Por miedo a ser demasiado redundante, si quieren conocerme un poco mas, definitivamente deberían leer algunas de mis publicaciones anteriores. Con cada publicación del libro, generalmente comparto mucho sobre mí porque ¿cómo puedo esperar que la gente se abra a mí si no hago lo mismo? Nuevamente me gustaría enfatizar lo apasionada que soy con las personas. Creo que la gente solo necesita sentirse amada y aunque no puedo amar a todos (porque no puedo conocer a todos), al menos puedo tratar de ser un lugar seguro para las personas. Espero hacerme entendir.

Hi hi! I realized that it’s now been well over a year since I wrote, “Let’s Get Personal” and a lot has changed since then. I figured an updated post was overdue! Firstly, thank you as always for reading my posts and for following my blog.

            Some quick facts about me: I’m currently 21 years old. I have two brothers and I’m the middle child. Both of my parents are from El Salvador but I was born and raised in Bellevue, WA. I do speak Spanish but I struggle reading and writing it. I studied French for 6 years but retained very little. I think I can understand it better than I can speak it, but eventually I’d like to get back into it. I also have a dog named Simba. 

            Come August, I will be starting my last year at Washington State University. You’ll be proud to know that I’m still studying Political Science and Criminal Justice. I’m also a part of the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) which means that upon my graduation I will be commissioning in the Army as a 2ndLieutenant. This school year I’m also a part of the Associated Students of Washington State University (ASWSU). Within ASWSU I have the privilege of serving as the Chief of Staff and Finances. During the summer when I’m back in Bellevue, I work at Nordstrom. You can also find me exploring new coffee shops, blogging, instagraming and reading. Other than watching movies, the occasional word search, hot yoga and shopping, I don’t have too many hobbies. I’ve poured a lot of energy into this blog lately so it and all that it encompasses has become my biggest hobby. 

            To share with you a little bit more about myself, know that I’m very passionate about people and learning. I by no means consider myself smart but I know I’m not stupid because I’m a very curious individual who asks a lot of questions. I read a lot to keep my mind creative and help me write. Eventually I’d like to get comfortable enough to share some of my pieces on here.

             I like to talk about anything and everything and turn strangers into friends. I believe in asking the hard questions and indulging in the uncomfortable conversations with an open mind because that’s where we learn and grow. I hope no one ever mistakes my curiosity for hostility.

             I like asking questions about things I don’t “agree” with because usually it’s simply that I don’t understand it. I consider myself a transparent person and while this blog originally started as a way for me to hold myself accountable for the books I read, it’s grown into an expression of self love. Reading makes me happy. Writing makes me happy. Taking pictures makes me happy. Drinking coffee and exploring my home state via cute coffee shops, makes me happy. I’m taking care of my soul while making connections so while I love all the support I get, at the end of the day if no one ever reads my blog, I’m at least left with a product I’m proud of. 

            I also think I make myself sound like an overly emotional individual, and while that’s true, I don’t want to give you the wrong impression. I think I’m hilarious and have a pretty sarcastic sense of humor. I’ve also been told I have RBF (resting b*tch face) but I promise I’m an approachable person. Know that I also believe I’m a badass but I’m 5’2 so I couldn’t be that intimidating even if I wanted to. I try my hardest to practice tact but I’m pretty blunt with my words at times and I’m for sure more eloquent on paper. For fear of getting too redundant, if you want to get to know me a little better, I definitely suggest reading through some of my previous posts. With every book post, I usually share a great deal about myself because how can I expect people to open up to me if I don’t do the same? Again I’d like to emphasize how passionate I am about people. I believe people just need to feel loved and while I can’t love everyone, (because I can’t meet everyone) I can at least try to be a safe place for people. I hope I’m making sense here.
